Baseball
Varsity: Central Valley 13, Ceres 0
JV: Central Valley 21, Ceres 0
The Hawks put an exclamation point on their league season with a dominating shutout over crosstown rival Ceres High. CV was led by Ezequiel Verduzco: 3-3, 2B, 3 RBIs, 2 R, Adrian Vega: 2-2, 3 RBIs, R, and Tyson Hunt: 4 IP, W, 0 R, 3 K. With 3 WAC games remaining, the 11-0 Hawks clinched their 2nd consecutive league championship! Congrats to Coach Bussard and the entire CV baseball program on this impressive accomplishment. In addition, the JV Hawks (11-0) also clinched their 2nd straight title. The baseball program continues to improve and is now one of top programs in the area. The Varsity Hawks will now focus on finishing strong down the stretch in preparation for the post-season. CV will travel to Ceres High today, Wood High in Vacaville on Friday, and will then close out the regular season with a 2-game series vs. Grace Davis.
Softball
Varsity: Central Valley 17, Pacheco 0
The Hawks softball team put another one in the win column with a shutout win on the road at Pacheco. CV was led by Reylena Herrera (1-2, 2B, 5 RBI) and Abigail Krauss (2-3, 2B, 3B, 2 runs). The 1st place Hawks are now 11-8 overall, 9-0 in WAC. CV will face Beyer tomorrow in a pivotal league matchup and will then will be busy next week with games against East Union (MON), Livingston (WED), and Johansen (FRI).
Boys Volleyball
Varsity: Livingston 3, Central Valley 0
JV: Livingston 2, Central Valley 0
The league leading Livingston Wolves boys volleyball team defeated the Hawks last night in straight sets. The Hawks made improvements each set and did show some flashes of brilliance at times, but the Wolves are in the top WAC spot for a reason and held off the Hawks. This concludes the Boys Volleyball season as the Hawks did improve throughout and made great strides in preparation for next season. I wanted to thank Coach Madrigal for stepping up to guide the program when the opportunity surfaced and I wish him the best of luck in his role next year as the new Athletic Director at Ceres High. Julio worked very hard to help build the boys volleyball program and he gave our student-athletes a memorable and enjoyable experience.
