Varsity: Central Valley 3, Ceres 2
JV: Central Valley 9, Ceres 0
In a battle of unbeaten WAC teams, Central Valley broke a 1st place tie with Ceres as the Hawks took home the 3-2 victory over the Bulldogs yesterday! CV was led by Reylena Herrera (2-3, 2B, RBI, run) and Brooklynn Steeley (1-2, RBI & 7 IP, CG, 1 ER). This dramatic win puts the Hawks alone in 1st place (6-0 WAC). There is still plenty of softball left to play, as the Hawks have 8 remaining league games, but this victory gives CV the inside track to controlling their own destiny come playoff time. The Hawks will be back in action on Friday when they host the Grace Davis Spartans.
Baseball
Varsity: Central Valley 16, Lathrop 1
JV: Central Valley 14, Lathrop 3
The Hawks continued to handle their business in the WAC with another dominating league win. CV defeated the Lathrop Spartans by the score of 16-1 as the Hawks are now 15-7 overall and 9-0 WAC (1st place). The Hawks were led by Nate Cazares (3-4, 3B, 3 RBIs, R) and Dominic Delatorre (4 IP, 6 Ks, 0 R). With 5 league games remaining, the Hawks will look to close out the regular season strong in their quest to repeat as league champions. The JV Hawks are also undefeated in league (9-0) as they also look to win another WAC championship.
Boys Volleyball
Varsity: Grace Davis 3, Central Valley 0
JV: Central Valley 2, Grace Davis 0
Frosh-Soph: Mountain House 2, Central Valley 1
The Varsity Hawks played for an enthusiastic home crowd on Senior Night, but CV could not bring home the win. The Hawks battled, but fell to the Grace Davis Spartans 3-0. The JV Hawks won in dominant fashion and the Frosh-Soph Hawks showed great improvement as they pushed Mountain House to a 3rd set, but eventually falling 15-12. The Frosh-Soph Hawks are back in action today at Enochs in Modesto, while the JV and Varsity Hawks will be back in action this Friday at Pacheco in Los Banos.
