At the WAC Finals yesterday, the Hawks made school history as they were the first group of Hawks to qualify as a full team for the SJS Playoffs! The top 3 teams in league qualify for the post-season, and the Hawks vaulted up from 4th place with a strong showing at the WAC Finals to secure the 3rd and final playoff spot! Congrats to the Hawks as they will continue their season next Monday, October 27th at Micke Grove Golf Course in Lodi. Congrats to the following Hawks for leading CV into the playoffs: Elia Hernandez, Emily Mariani, Audrey Rico, Nevaeh Perez, and Skarlett Maldonado.
Girls Flag Football
Varsity: Lathrop 19, Central Valley 12
JV: Lathrop 25, Central Valley 0
The Hawks put a valiant fight, but eventually fell to 1st place Lathrop by the score of 19-12. Although the Hawks could not pull off the upset, it was still an exciting night as CV clinched their first ever playoff spot with a Beyer loss vs. Ceres. The Hawks have qualified for the post-season in just the 3rd year of flag football here at CV. With one league game remaining, the Hawks have plenty to play for as they will host the Ceres Bulldogs on Wednesday night. The winner of this game will secure 2nd place and the #2 playoff qualifier seed from the WAC behind Lathrop. The playoff brackets for flag football will be released this Saturday.
Girls Volleyball
Varsity: Lathrop defeats Central Valley 3-0
JV: Lathrop defeats Central Valley 2-1
Frosh-Soph: Lathrop defeats Central Valley 2-1
In their final home matches of the season, the Hawks were defeated by the Lathrop Spartans on all 3 levels. The final results don’t tell the entire story as both lower level matches were tight to the finish and the future looks bright for the Hawks as the battled the 1st place Spartans in both contests. As for the Varsity, the Spartans came in as the heavy favorites, but CV just narrowly missed the first set upset by the score of 23-25 and the Hawks couldn’t hang on to an early 8-0 lead in set 2. Even in defeat, the Senior Night crowd was loud last night and some great memories were made for our outgoing Seniors.
Football (from Friday)
Varsity: Johansen 28, Central Valley 7
JV: Central Valley 12, Johansen 0
The Hawks (3-5 overall, 2-3 in WAC) stayed close to the Vikings for a majority of the game, but some costly turnovers and penalties negated CV’s attempt at the upset. The 2nd place Vikings were able to take control in the 2nd half to pull away from the Hawks for the 28-7 win. The Hawks will now travel to Lathrop this Friday night at take on the 1st place Spartans. The JV Hawks (6-1-1 overall, 4-1 WAC) picked up another win and are now just one game back of 1st place. The JV Hawks will attempt to take over 1st place on Friday when they travel to the 1st place Spartans. This showdown will determine who has the inside track at the JV title going into the final week of the season. The Frosh-Soph Hawks (4-3-1 overall, 4-0-1 in WAC) will also play for a chance to for 1st place this Thursday when they host Lathrop.
Girls/Boys Water Polo

Boys; Johansen 7, Central Valley 4
Both CV Water Polo teams were defeated by Johansen last night, but both teams had closer contests than their first meeting with the Vikings. The Hawks continue to learn and improve as the season continues. CV will look to finish the season strong with games remaining against Lathrop and Ceres.
