Girls Tennis
Varsity: Central Valley 8, Pacheco 1
The Hawks kept their hot streak alive with another dominant WAC victory. CV took down the Pacheco Panthers by the score of 8-1. The Hawks are firmly in 1st place as they remain undefeated in league play. CV wins came from (Singles): Aleena Higle, Harkiran Sandhu, Aaliyah Jauregui, Valerie Espinoza, Serath Birring, and Roxana Orozco; (Doubles): Emily Carranza/Natalia Campos and Samantha Sarabia/Yahiza Bustos. The Hawks will be back in action this Thursday when they travel to Beyer to take on the Patriots.
Girls Flag Football (from Monday)
Varsity: Central Valley 25, Pacheco 19
JV: Central Valley 12, Pacheco 6
The Hawks stormed out to an early 19-0 lead over the Pacheco, but the feisty Panthers wouldn’t go away. Pacheco put 7 on the board right before halftime to put the CV lead at 19-7. In the 2nd half, CV was able to score on their first drive to extend the lead to 25-7. The Panthers would not give up and scored a couple times to narrow the Hawk lead to 25-19. The Hawks would ultimately shut down the last Pacheco drive to hold onto the victory. The CV offense was led by quarterback Abigail Krauss (18-26, 126 yards, 4 TD’s), running back and Ayleen Apreza (7 carries, 52 yards & 4 receptions, 39 yards, 2 TD’s). Jocelyn Rivera also contributed with 60 yards rushing on 8 carries while both Ruby Medina and Jazmin Carmona caught touchdown passes. Mia Muniz was also a factor on offense with 8 catches for 46 yards. Defensively, the Hawks were led by Giana Breshears (3 sacks) and Airieana Martinez (5 tackles). Ayleen Apreza (CV sophomore running back), also plays defense, and totaled 3 interceptions on the night. The win puts the Hawks at 6-3 in the WAC which is good enough for a 3rd place tie with Beyer. The Hawks travel to Beyer tonight to take on the Patriots in a crucial late-season matchup.
Girls Golf
Central Valley defeats Livingston 213-240
The Lady Hawks took care of business on Tuesday as they defeated the Livingston Wolves at St. Stan’s Golf Course. The leading performers for the Hawks were Emily Mariani and Elia Hernandez. CV is now in 4th place out of 8 teams as they continue solid play and look to sneak into the top 3 for a potential playoff berth. The Hawks are back in action this Thursday when they travel to Creekside Golf Course to take on the Johansen Vikings.
Girls Volleyball (from Monday)
Varsity: Pacheco 3, Central Valley 1 (23-25, 18-25, 25-21, 20-25)
JV: Pacheco 2, Central Valley 1
Frosh-Soph: Pacheco 2, Central Valley 1
The Hawk made the long trip to Los Banos on Monday night to take on the Pacheco Panthers. The Panthers swept the Hawks, but all the matches were hard-fought and tight throughout. CV will look to get in the win column tonight when they host the Beyer Patriots.
Girls/Boys Water Polo (from Monday)
Girls: Grace Davis 20, Central Valley 7
Boys: Grace Davis 13, Central Valley 6
The Hawks traveled to Grace Davis on Monday night to take on the Spartans. The Hawks dropped both contests to the Grace Davis. CV will be back in action today when they host the Pacheco Panthers.
