Boys Soccer- SJS DI Semi-Finals

Davis Sr. 3, Central Valley 1

The Hawks gave the Blue Devils a fight, but CV was unable to pull out the win last night.  Davis scored late in the 1st half to take a 1-0 lead with about 9 minutes left until halftime.  The Hawks didn’t take long to respond as less than 3 minutes later, Alejandro Garcia was fouled in the box and successfully converted the penalty kick to even up the score at 1-1.  This 1-1 score held into halftime.  Just 3 minutes into the 2nd half, Davis was able to capitalize on a breakaway and score.  CV had a few solid scoring opportunities, including a missed foul call in the box, but the Hawks were unable to even things up.  The 2-1 Davis lead held for most of the 2nd half and then the Blue Devils would add a late goal to pull away for the 3-1 lead.  As the teams shook hands, you could see the high level of respect that each team had for each other.  It was a hard-fought game and our Hawks left it all on the field.  Congrats to Coach Garcia and the Varsity Hawks on another fantastic season as it is not easy to continue these playoff runs at the Division 1 level.  The 2025 WAC Champion Hawks will look to prepare for next season as they continue their quest for the blue banner.

Softball

Varsity: Central Valley 13, Downey 0

JV: Central Valley 22-9

The Hawks softball team didn’t waste any time picking up the pieces from Monday’s walk-off loss as they shutout the Downey Knights in impressive fashion.  Gabby Delatorre had another monster game going 3-4 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored.  Victoria Espinoza (2-3, 2B, 3 RBI) and Madelyn Morales (2-3, 2B, RBI) both added multi-hit games to contribute to the Hawks 13 runs on 12 hits.  The Hawks are now 5-2 in non-league play and will look to stay in the win column next Wednesday when they travel to Sierra High in Manteca to take on the Timberwolves.

Baseball

Varsity: Pitman 4, Central Valley 1

The Hawks dropped a competitive ballgame to the Pitman Pride by the score of 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon.  CV couldn’t quite get things going offensively aside from a multi-hit game by Isaias Valdovinos (2-3).  On the mound, Marcus Olivas threw well in defeat as he went 5 innings, scattering just 3 hits and 1 earned run.  The loss drops the Hawks overall record to 3-2 this season.  CV will look to make it a positive week as they travel to Elk Grove tomorrow afternoon to take on a solid Laguna Creek program.  The Hawks do return home for a couple of games next week as they host East Union (Thursday) and Gregori (Friday).
