Varsity: Central Valley 66, Johansen 56

JV: Johansen defeats Central Valley

Frosh: Central Valley defeats Johansen

The Hawks stepped up when they needed to on Friday to pull off a HUGE road win at Johansen!  CV knew this game carried heavy playoff implications and it was a must win.  The Hawks did what they needed to do and pulled away in the 2nd half on their way to a 66-56 victory over the Vikings.  This win gives the Hawks a 2-0 record over Johansen this season as the 2 teams are locked up in 3rd place with league records of 8-4 (CV holds tie-breaker).  The leaders for the Hawks were Jace McLennon 18pts, 4 Rebs , 2ast, 2stls, Emmanuel Carranza 16pts, 5rebs, 1stl , and Andre Flores 12pts,5rebs, 5ast, 3stls.  CV hit several clutch free throws down the stretch to secure the win.  Their work isn’t done yet as now the Hawks have 2 important league games remaining on their quest to punch a ticket to the post-season.  CV controls their own destiny and will look to pick up a win this Wednesday at Lathrop.  The Hawks will finish the regular season with the 2nd round of the crosstown showdown, Friday night at Ceres High.

Boys Wrestling

Although the Hawks finished in 3rd place during the WAC Dual season, CV saved their best for last at Saturday’s WAC Finals at Livingston.  The Hawks pieced things together at the right time and won the WAC Tourney!  CV edged out Grace Davis (results posted below) and the Hawks qualified 13 male wrestlers at Divisionals last week.  We had 5 finalists and 2 league champions: Carlos Zepeda and Angel Melgoza.  Good luck to the Hawks as the qualifiers now move on to the SJS playoffs this coming weekend.
